Chairman NITP, Insists SCOAN Complied With Lagos Building Development Rules

plane buildingA lead witness in the ongoing trial involving The Synagogue Church of all Nation (SCOAN) and the Lagos State Government over the former’s collapsed building has said that what the church did was not against known practice of physical development in the state.

Mr. Adebisi Adedire, now chairman, Nigeria Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Lagos Chapter, who is also a consultant to Lagos state Government on physical planning matter, told the court that a builder can regularize its structure after building as the Law requires in Lagos State.

He made the statement last week at the resumed hearing of the suit instituted by the Lagos State Government against the church.

While he was being cross-examined by the lawyers from the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the town planner explained all the various procedure to be followed before a building is erected in the State, and in all its explanation the Church has complied in respect of the building, which collapsed Four years ago.

According to Adebisi any builder in Lagos state must have a building permit including other documents like survey certificate, certificate of occupancy, as well as development proposal.

He told the court that planning permit process gave automatic directives to a builder to develop a site as required by Law in the State.

The witness enlightened the court that the processes are done in Lagos state planning office, which would be followed by paying assessment fee.

He explained further that pre-screening is one of the first processes to undergo before taking physical possession of a land.

Regularization according to him is a form of enforcement from the state government. In essence it is a means where what is built as illegal now became legal after going through the process of regularization.

He noted that many buildings in Lagos state were built without following the due process.

Backing his claim, he cited a state government’s advertorial publication in March 2018 in national dailies calling for owners of buildings in the State who are yet to regularize to come forward and do so within six months without payment of any fee.

During the proceeding, counsels to the Synagogue Church adopted copies of the said publication as a relevant material to be used in the case and after a counter move against admittance of the court, the court, however, ruled in the favour of the church and admitted the document, which was presented by the church’s counsel, Olamilekan Ojo (SAN).

The building, built within the Church premises collapsed in 2014 after an alleged strange aircraft flew over the building. The matter has been adjourned to 6th and 7th December 2018.

Video: T.B. Joshua reveals the ‘two Christs’ in the church!!!

Prophet T.B. Joshua

Prophet T.B. Joshua has issued a stinging rebuke to the Church in an impassioned sermon, which has attracted over 70,000 views on YouTube in under one week.

“There has been a great mix-up in the Church,” Joshua stated in the message he preached on Sunday 30th September 2018. “It is the erroneous assumption that spiritual truths can be intellectual perceived,”he continued, stressing that being brought up in a Church background does not equate to ‘knowing Jesus’.

“Many people know about Christ but they don’t know Christ,” he added. “You can read your New Testament and still never find Jesus in it. You can be convinced that Jesus is the Son of God and still never find Jesus. You can be a publisher of the Bible.  You can know about Christ dying for you. You can head this or that religious organisation. You can be the Founder and General Overseer and still never know Jesus of Nazareth in the power of the Holy Ghost.”

According to the cleric, there are “two Christs”in the Church – “the Christ of story and of history and song – the baby Jesus”and “Christ which the Holy Spirit reveals”.

He went further to emphatically emphasise that “if you are reasoned into Christianity, some wise fellow can reason you out of it – unless you know the Holy Spirit… It is either the Holy Spirit or darkness.”

Joshua called congregants to a period of sober reflection about whether they were really Christians or merely “religious people”. “If today is your last day, where are you going,”he sombrely asked.

“If you are serving God without the Holy Spirit, you are serving a god you do not know,” he concluded, adding that this was the “greatest problem”faced by the Church today.

The message, which was titled ‘Knowing Jesus, Knowing The Holy Spirit,’ sparked reactions online from viewers of Joshua’s YouTube channel Emmanuel TV, which is nearing a whopping 1,000,000 subscribers.

“Listening to TB Joshua is like going to Harvard for free,”wrote Linda Atieno, an American. “Please don’t listen to anyone bad mouthing TB Joshua! Come and find for yourself the treasure in Nigeria – someone who will teach you how to grow closer and closer to God.”

DON’T DESPAIR!

tb joshua, Scoan

Prophet T.B. Joshua

“As a Christian, whatever situation you are in now – are you sick? Are you poor? Are you facing disappointment? Are you lonely? What is your situation? Don’t despair. You are only being preserved for your proper position and possession in Christ. It may be to prepare you for the challenges ahead. It may be to reform you for a better position in Christ. It may be to keep you for a new level in life. Remember, as a Christian whatever level we find ourselves, we believe the best is yet to come. Don’t despair – God sometimes uses foolish things to reveal His purpose in our lives.”

MARRIAGE COUNSELLING – THE RIGHT TIME AND THE RIGHT PERSON

tb joshua, Scoan

Prophet T.B. Joshua

“When you talk of marriage, there are two things we must take note of: The right time and the right person. It is the right time that brings about the right person. It is not the right person that brings about the right time. If there is a mistake in these two, there will be trouble in the marriage tomorrow. The right time and the right person – that is what builds marriage. If you want to marry, wait for God’s time. When it is the right time, the right person will come. If you don’t wait for the right time, the marriage will not stand the test of time.” – T.B. Joshua

AN ALTAR GIRL GOES TO CAMBRIDGE

Peace Adesina Oluwatomi, an altar girl at The SCOAN, took a step forward to appreciate the immense help of Prophet T.B. Joshua and the Emmanuel TV Partners. With their financial assistance and the Prophet’s mentorship, she successfully graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. During her four-year course, she won the Best Student Awards and Excellent Student Awards, meaning, she was always at the top of her class. She accredited this to the words of wisdom she received from Prophet T.B. Joshua during her time spent in the church.

The Prophet’s words inspired her to go further and so she applied for and was accepted to one of the world’s best Universities, the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Truly, time spent in Christ’s presence is time well spent.

Prophet T.B. Joshua and the Emmanuel TV Partners are sponsoring her master’s degree programme at the University of Cambridge at the cost of approximately 55,000 pounds. With gratitude to God, she advised youths to follow the process of God in all their endeavors for if God could take a formerly depressed girl like her and put a smile on her face, He can do the same for them. “It doesn’t matter what school you go to; what matters is your relationship with Jesus”.

In the words of Prophet T.B Joshua, “It takes focused action, personal discipline and lots of energy every day to make things happen”.

NIGERIAN TEENAGER SOLD INTO SEXUAL SLAVERY IN LIBYA!!!

“I Slept With 20-25 Men Every Day…”

Her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that fortune had finally shone its face on her impoverished family? That she would finally leave the ‘hellhole’ she called home? “So, I won’t have to pay anything here,” she naively quipped, trying to process the enormity of the offer that had been so coyly presented. “Nothing. You will, of course, pay back once you reach Europe.” His toothless smile bordered on benign. But desperation dimmed the warning bells ringing within. Miss Beauty John accepted and the spirited 19-year-old prepared the scanty belongings she had in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria, for the ‘trip of a lifetime’.

It was 2015. Beauty tearfully kissed her mum and younger siblings farewell, promising she would call upon her arrival in Europe. The car first went to Kano State, where she was roughly pushed into another vehicle with several other intrepid travellers. Their destination was Agadez, Niger. As the vehicle hastily traversed the desert terrain at midnight, Beauty plucked up the courage to ask about the plane she would board to Europe. “Shut up, girl” was the only answer she got. There was no going back. In Agadez, Beauty was placed inside a Hilux vehicle alongside almost 20 others. A tortuous four-day journey through the Sahara Desert lay ahead. The sun beat relentlessly, the young Nigerian clinging onto a wooden stick as the vehicle hurtled through the endless dunes at breakneck speeds.

When Beauty arrived in Libya, a ‘connection-man’ was awaiting her. But the conditions on which she set out on her journey were about to be radically revised. She would have to ‘pay her ticket’ to Europe, he stoically informed her. How? By selling her own body for sex. Beauty convulsed, blurting out that this was not she travelled for. “That’s not my business; you belong to me now,” he retorted, striking her to the ground with a vicious blow. Beauty had been sold into sexual slavery – by her own countrymen. It took the teenager almost six months to raise the requisite money to ‘buy’ her freedom – an equivalent of N400,000. “I slept with between 20 to 25 men every day,” she winningly reminisced of her days in prostitution. Innocence robbed in the cruellest, most callous of fashions.

What transpired in the next 1,000 days are beyond what words can adequately convey. Beauty spent three long years in Libya – which she described as “hell on earth” – longing for the day she would ‘cross over’ to Europe. She worked as a cleaner in a hospital to support herself, saving up her meagre income to secure her journey. Finally setting sail in a makeshift rubber dinghy in late 2018, along with almost 100 others, Beauty had not even reached International Waters when their ship was flagged down by the Libyan coastguard. She was promptly imprisoned and finally repatriated back to Nigeria. “I came back with literally nothing,” she stated, adding that the clothes on her back were provided courtesy of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). “I wasted three years of my life in Libya,” Beauty concluded. “But God kept me alive for a purpose – so my life can be a lesson to others. I plead with my fellow Nigerian youth not to take such a journey and end up in prostitution, like I did.”

Beauty was among the 60 Nigerians deported from Libya who came to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) on Friday 14th September 2018, where they were given N2m by Prophet T.B. Joshua and Emmanuel TV Partners to help start their lives afresh in Nigeria.
