AN ALTAR GIRL GOES TO CAMBRIDGE

Peace Adesina Oluwatomi, an altar girl at The SCOAN, took a step forward to appreciate the immense help of Prophet T.B. Joshua and the Emmanuel TV Partners. With their financial assistance and the Prophet’s mentorship, she successfully graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. During her four-year course, she won the Best Student Awards and Excellent Student Awards, meaning, she was always at the top of her class. She accredited this to the words of wisdom she received from Prophet T.B. Joshua during her time spent in the church.

The Prophet’s words inspired her to go further and so she applied for and was accepted to one of the world’s best Universities, the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Truly, time spent in Christ’s presence is time well spent.

Prophet T.B. Joshua and the Emmanuel TV Partners are sponsoring her master’s degree programme at the University of Cambridge at the cost of approximately 55,000 pounds. With gratitude to God, she advised youths to follow the process of God in all their endeavors for if God could take a formerly depressed girl like her and put a smile on her face, He can do the same for them. “It doesn’t matter what school you go to; what matters is your relationship with Jesus”.

In the words of Prophet T.B Joshua, “It takes focused action, personal discipline and lots of energy every day to make things happen”.

NIGERIAN TEENAGER SOLD INTO SEXUAL SLAVERY IN LIBYA!!!

“I Slept With 20-25 Men Every Day…”

Her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that fortune had finally shone its face on her impoverished family? That she would finally leave the ‘hellhole’ she called home? “So, I won’t have to pay anything here,” she naively quipped, trying to process the enormity of the offer that had been so coyly presented. “Nothing. You will, of course, pay back once you reach Europe.” His toothless smile bordered on benign. But desperation dimmed the warning bells ringing within. Miss Beauty John accepted and the spirited 19-year-old prepared the scanty belongings she had in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria, for the ‘trip of a lifetime’.

It was 2015. Beauty tearfully kissed her mum and younger siblings farewell, promising she would call upon her arrival in Europe. The car first went to Kano State, where she was roughly pushed into another vehicle with several other intrepid travellers. Their destination was Agadez, Niger. As the vehicle hastily traversed the desert terrain at midnight, Beauty plucked up the courage to ask about the plane she would board to Europe. “Shut up, girl” was the only answer she got. There was no going back. In Agadez, Beauty was placed inside a Hilux vehicle alongside almost 20 others. A tortuous four-day journey through the Sahara Desert lay ahead. The sun beat relentlessly, the young Nigerian clinging onto a wooden stick as the vehicle hurtled through the endless dunes at breakneck speeds.

When Beauty arrived in Libya, a ‘connection-man’ was awaiting her. But the conditions on which she set out on her journey were about to be radically revised. She would have to ‘pay her ticket’ to Europe, he stoically informed her. How? By selling her own body for sex. Beauty convulsed, blurting out that this was not she travelled for. “That’s not my business; you belong to me now,” he retorted, striking her to the ground with a vicious blow. Beauty had been sold into sexual slavery – by her own countrymen. It took the teenager almost six months to raise the requisite money to ‘buy’ her freedom – an equivalent of N400,000. “I slept with between 20 to 25 men every day,” she winningly reminisced of her days in prostitution. Innocence robbed in the cruellest, most callous of fashions.

What transpired in the next 1,000 days are beyond what words can adequately convey. Beauty spent three long years in Libya – which she described as “hell on earth” – longing for the day she would ‘cross over’ to Europe. She worked as a cleaner in a hospital to support herself, saving up her meagre income to secure her journey. Finally setting sail in a makeshift rubber dinghy in late 2018, along with almost 100 others, Beauty had not even reached International Waters when their ship was flagged down by the Libyan coastguard. She was promptly imprisoned and finally repatriated back to Nigeria. “I came back with literally nothing,” she stated, adding that the clothes on her back were provided courtesy of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). “I wasted three years of my life in Libya,” Beauty concluded. “But God kept me alive for a purpose – so my life can be a lesson to others. I plead with my fellow Nigerian youth not to take such a journey and end up in prostitution, like I did.”

Beauty was among the 60 Nigerians deported from Libya who came to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) on Friday 14th September 2018, where they were given N2m by Prophet T.B. Joshua and Emmanuel TV Partners to help start their lives afresh in Nigeria.

THOSE WHO TRY TO KILL US ARE ONLY HELPING US TO GO HOME AND REST

IN MEMORY OF THE MARTYRS OF FAITH (SEPTEMBER 12, 2014)

“Whether we die young or old, what matters is the grace to continue living hereafter. It is now four years since our beloved brothers and sisters slept in the Lord. We must realise that their death is an unavoidable call – a call to our Heavenly home that no one can disobey.

Jesus said that if you do not take up your cross and deny yourself daily and perhaps even get killed for your belief in Him, you are not worthy of Him (Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24). The level at which satan attacks us seems to be equal to the level of our commitment to the Lord. I don’t think enough people understand this. If you are totally committed to God, He will take up satan’s challenge against you.

As soon as we make a true conversion, a commitment asking Jesus to purchase us, we become Jesus’ property. Then satan hates us the same way he hates Jesus. That is why the moment we are truly saved, we are engaged in a phenomenal battle (John 15:18-22). We cannot separate warfare from salvation. True salvation is going to put you into direct conflict with satan.

Many of us would say, “Why should I suffer or die? After all, Jesus won the victory on the Cross and suffered for me?” But the question we need to ask ourselves is, “What did Jesus say?” He said, “I have said unto you, the servant is not greater than his Master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20).

Anyone who claims that he does not have to suffer because Jesus did it for him is indirectly saying that he is greater than his Master. He is actually contradicting what Jesus said. Basically, we need to give up our lives here on earth and gain eternal life in Heaven. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are accepting citizenship in Heaven and death here on earth.

Once Christ purchases us, we become aliens here on earth and there is a barrier between us and everything here on earth. We are servants, we simply obey the command of our Master. We do not decide what suffering we must bear.

Many people have been serving the Lord fervently and have come into difficult life situations because of being mistreated by either wicked men or carnal Christians. The truth is that they have been treated unjustly. But to become offended would only fulfil the enemy’s purpose of getting them out of the will of God. If you stay free from offence, you will stay in God’s will. If you become offended, you will be taken captive by the enemy to fulfil his own purpose and will.

If we are Christ’s followers, we must follow His example. If He could forgive the people who were killing Him, we can certainly find a way to forgive those who hurt us. When we cannot forgive, we hurt ourselves more than anyone. Nursing a grudge damages our heart. Life is too short to waste our time on things that have no lasting value or significance.

From eternity’s perspective, death is not a period; it is only a comma because of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. When a believer dies, he goes into glory, where there is no conflict. Heaven is our home. A man may die young yet be satisfied with living but a wicked man is not satisfied even with long life.

Those who try to kill us are only helping us to go home and rest. But those who send us home will go into further conflict; they will have more questions to answer than when they were alive. The wicked seem to prosper now and live without a care but they will spend eternity in terror and despair.

How can we honour the memory of the martyrs of faith? Endeavour by the grace of God to live for the Lord and give yourself to the needs of others.

Romans 14:8 – “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”

What a blessed memorial!

How do I end this write-up? Here, I drop my pen.”

PROPER REFLECTION!

tb joshua, Scoan

Prophet T.B. Joshua

What is your situation today? As a Christian, do a proper reflection and you would see that behind your situation lies God’s purpose for your life.

In spite of his nagging wife and his misleading friends, Job did not allow his emotions to overrule his reasoning. On proper reflection, he rebuked his wife saying, “When the goings were good, you said, ‘To God be the glory!’ Now that things are tough, you say, ‘God be cursed’” (Job 2:10). If Job had not done a proper reflection, he would have yielded to his emotions and cursed God. On proper reflection, he came to realise that God and not Job himself, was the central character and that the issue at hand was faith and not suffering.

He knew that events that seem ordinary to us might have an extraordinary effect in the spirit, much of which is hidden from the ordinary eye. It was the reality of the experience that actually kept Job’s faith alive. In other words, it was this realization that actually kept him from sinning against God in the face of pressure and tension.

The case of Job is an example of how true children of God should handle temptations. Remember how much loss he had to put up with: His wealth, children, health and companions – he lost all. What situation are you in today? Is it sickness, poverty, inability to bear children, isolation or rejection?

Remember that events that seem ordinary may have extraordinary effects in the spirit, much of which is hidden from the ordinary eye. It takes the reflective mind to discover that behind your situation lie God’s promises for your life. Sit and reflect; you will discover that nothing happens for nothing. That situation you are in does not come by chance; it is as it should be by divine will. It may be to reform, preserve, or prepare you for a better position. Mention any Biblical character and you would see how much of this he had to endure to come to a new level in life.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST

tb joshua, scoan

Prophet T.B. Joshua

“What we do for Christ is only a reflection of the relationship we have with God. If you want to be able to do great things, you need to have a great relationship. The greater the relationship, the greater the things we can do for God. It is my relationship with Him that brings about what I am doing for Him. It is your relationship with Him that brings about what you are doing for Him.

“If you want to have a ministry that is strong, our relationship must be strong. Life does not begin with a relationship with people. It begins with a relationship with God and that relationship overflows to people. I mean, our relationship should be first to God, and then to human beings. The main thing about Christianity is not the work we do but the relationship we maintain and the atmosphere produced by that relationship.”

– T.B. Joshua

JESUS KNOWS YOU!

tb joshua , scoan

Prophet T.B. Joshua

“If God is everywhere, in Heaven and on earth, then, where can we go from His presence? (Psalm 139:7) Sometimes, when we are in our privacy, we tend to think that no one is looking at us and that is why we go contrary to the will of our Creator. We forget that we are under His eye always. The Bible says He neither sleeps nor slumbers. He keeps watch over us, day and night.

Psalm 121:3-5 – “He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand.”

Everybody reading this – Jesus knows. He knows our past, present and our future.” – T.B. Joshua

Our God is God of purpose

Sit and reflect on life itself and you would discover that nothing happens by chance. It is the principle of life that for everything there is a purpose. Our God is God of purpose. There is a purpose for everything He created. Who knows what would have happened if there was day and no night at all. Who knows what would have happened if there were only women and no men at all. For everything God created, He assigned a definite purpose – a clear role. Remember, you are made not only in the image of God but also to live in a community. Without relating to others in a community, the reality of the image of God in us cannot be made manifest. Genuine spiritual experience needs to be tested in a real situation in order to expose the reality of the experience. By genuine spiritual experience, I mean the image of God in us which we manifest in the form of faithfulness, love, kindness, goodness, self-control, humility and the like as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23. If you say you are Christian, you are saying you are a divine image bearer of God. It means you mirror Christ and that your life comes from Christ. Except this claim is tested in a real situation, your claim would remain suspect.

As a Christian, no matter the situation you are facing, there is a purpose. Find out. Do a proper reflection and you would see that behind your situation lies God’s purpose for your life.
